AI4RA Tip of the Week #5
What is a workflow and how can it help me automate an RA process?
A workflow is an ordered series of tasks which describe a process from start to finish. In Vandalizer, a workflow is the series of extraction, prompting, and formatting tasks which process your documents using AI and conclude by providing you with a structured output.
Why It Matters for Research Administrators
In the AI4RA AI tool, Vandalizer, workflows serve to take pieces of RA processes and automate them, saving RAs time and effort while outputting consistent and reliable results.
Once you identify an automatable process, the next step would be to create an AI workflow or use a pre-vetted workflow in Vandalizer that allows you to run future iterations of that process at the press of a button. Should you choose to create your own workflow, you should consider AI4RA’s four pillars of AI development and strive to create a workflow that is:
- Accurate – Creates reliable, verifiable outputs
- Reproducible – Generates consistent results every time
- Flexible – Customizable to any institution
- Secure – Protects sensitive data and detects personally identifiable information
How to Use This Resource
